Fats, oils and greases (FOGs) are specified as a parameter in many trade effluent consent documents. They can be a particular area of focus particularly with regard to food manufacturers/processors.

The limits set by the water authorities for FOGs are generally quite low, making treatment and removal on site essential.

As well as this, they can also cause issues in blocking pipework and equipment.
